"The United States is the world's largest consumer market for diamonds. Over 90 percent of the diamonds that enter this country go through New York City and most of them go through the Diamond District. More than 2,600 independent businesses are located in the Diamond District, and nearly all of them are related to diamonds or fine jewelry."
We had to walk through the Diamond District to see it for ourselves. It was one jewelry storefront after another displaying diamonds and fine jewelry in their storefront windows. Some of the weren't single stores but entrances to a mall of dozens of independent sellers.
A lot of interesting works of art, some very famous. However, the most common question I overheard was: "What is that?"

We stopped at the groove for dinner and purchased a couple of their logo T-shirts. They often have live music but we were there too early for the live music.
I was really more interested in the history of Greenwich Village than the haunted part, but it did add an element of entertainment to the tour. The weather had been nice all day but it started pouring during our walking tour. Fortunately we had souvenir umbrellas of the "Starry Night" artwork that we had purchased at the Museum of Modern Art. All the photos below show places where people were murdered or committed suicide and are supposedly haunted.
