Shirley Cepinko, Barbara's Mom, was burried at Beth David Cemetery, 300 Elmont Rd, Elmont, New York, at about 10:30 AM (Corner of Sinai and Grant). She joins her husband, Irving Cepinko, and son, Jeffrey Warren Cepinko, who died before her. After the burial everyone attending had lunch at Woodro's Kosher Deli in Hewlett, New York. No photos were taken at the burial or at the deli. After lunch we drove to our hotel, The Hampton Inn Times Square Central at 42nd Avenue and 7th Street, and dropped off our luggage. Since our room wasn't ready yet, we decided to visit Coney Island and then return our rental car to Newark Liberty Airport. I found driving in Times Square difficult and stressful with all the traffic and pedestrians. I was happy to get out of New York City and to return the car as soon as possible. |

This is THE ORIGINAL Nathan's Famous. Barbara was disappointed that it wasn't what it was when she grew up on Long Island, NY. They no longer offer sauerkraut, onions, or any hot dog toppings beyond mustard, ketchup and plain relish. They also no longer offer knishes. However, there is another hot dog place right next door that still offers all of those toppings and even sells knishes! It appears that Nathan's Famous has adjusted their menu to be more for tourists than for locals. |
